and his kingdom will have no end.

Sometimes perspective is all we need when our situations seem all-consuming. Thus far in life, whenever I’ve gone through a major trial, I’ve felt crushed and overwhelmed by the circumstances. But the more experiences I've had, the more I've started to pick-up on the fact that every single trial eventually passes. More trials come, and they pass as well. But the grace of God that brings me through each trial, that endures.

Whenever I need this perspective, my heart always finds solace in a few of our beautiful Christian reminders.

First, in this verse of the old hymn Be Still My Soul:

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

And second, this stanza of the Universal Prayer:

Teach me to realize that this world is passing,
That my true future is the happiness of heaven,
That life on earth is short,
And the life to come eternal.

What a sigh of relief for the soul. No matter what our temporary may be, our eternal will be well worth it.
