Day 7: Act of Contrition, 7th Line

Day 7: Act of Contrition, 7th Line

Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.

This sentence is everything. It is the crux of our Christian faith. (Literally, crux means cross in Latin.) It’s not just the reason why we should repent and be forgiven; it is the reason why we can. God Himself has paid our penalty so that we may be set free.

Let’s spend some time today reflecting on this statement as if we’re learning it for the first time, and not let it become such a familiar reality that it simply blends into the background of our everyday mode of operation. It’s not enough to simply memorize this statement as a fact; it is everything to let it change our hearts, and affect our lives for good.
